New Wedding Trend

In these difficult times, couples are celebrating their big day by giving. More couples are incorporating a charitable element into their big day. While your wedding day is a true expression of you, couples are showing that expression by instead of thinking of themselves; they are thinking of others. They are doing this by making a donation to a charity of their choice in the name of their guests as wedding favors. For a wedding gift guests are being asked to donate to a charity of the couple’s choice or a cause that is important to them. Here are a few ideas that will help you implement kindness into your wedding day: when registering, look for offers that donate a percentage of all gifts purchased to a charity of your choice, make arrangements to donate left over food to a food bank or homeless shelter, donate leftover flowers to a nursing home, donate your wedding supplies to the Salvation Army or Goodwill.

Corsage or Flower?

It has become common for the mother of the bride/groom and other female honorees to be given a nosegay to hold or a flower instead of a corsage, which can look beautiful and make them feel special. Ask them what the prefer; some may like having something to carry, while others may find they enjoy the convenience of wearing a corsage and being hands-free.

Destination Weddings

I got the opportunity to meet and listen to a very successful destination wedding planner by the name of Lisa Light yesterday. She is the founder and driving force behind DestinationBride.com. She is also the author of “Destination Brides: How to Plan Your Wedding Anywhere in the World.” Destination weddings represent the fastest-growing segment of the wedding industry and are cheaper than a traditional wedding. You can have all in one: wedding, reception, honeymoon, and vacation.

"Wedding Day Revision"

For those of you who are married. I am sure when you think back on your wedding day, there are some things you would have done differently. I know when I think back on mine there are several things I would have done different. I am not trying to take anything away from my wedding day but of course with time things change. The number one thing I would change is the number of bridesmaids I had. I am guessing I would have had 5 instead of 9. I have no clue how I would have done it because the people I had in my wedding played a part in my life some time or another and are very special to me. I would have begged and pleaded with my husband to change the guys’ suits to white. I would have taken my wedding pictures somewhere else instead of just the church and had some nontraditional pictures taken also. I would have had more candid pictures also. I would have made sure my husband and I both went over the selection of the music for the reception. Oh and I would have forgotten to mail Aunt Evelyn’s invitation. I am just kidding. I love you auntie. I am interested in hearing somethings you would have changed and if possible send a picture.

Candy Stations

Candy stations are a new trend at wedding receptions, bridal showers, and anniversary parties. You can take it further and go back into your childhood and use your favorite cereals, candies, cookies, or any other sweets you or your guest enjoyed. Imagine a cereal bar with a variety or your favorite cereals. I am thinking of a few I enjoyed as a child: Froot Loops, Apple Jacks, Lucky Charms, Frankenberry, Frosted Flakes and Rice Krispies. Can you imagine. How about candies you enjoyed as a child like: Now & Laters, Boston Baked Beans, Lemon Heads, Laffy Taffy, Kits, Toosie Rolls, Vanilla Caramels. The sky is the limit. Be creative and have fun with it. Here are a few websites to will help you get started: http://www.balboacandy.com/cafr6070and8.html, http://www.candyfavorites.com/index.php, http://www.scoops-scoops.com/candy_for_candy_buffet.html
